Have you ever had to take a car trip with your dog? You quickly realize that planning ahead and having the right accessories can really help make your dog happy and healthy during the trip. When I embarked on a cross country road trip with my dog, there were a few key items I brought and a few I wish I had known to bring!
Here’s my list of must-haves for pet travel:
There are a lot of different varieties offered for food and water bowls, but I enjoyed this one because I could pack down the bowls and store them away during the long drive. I didn’t want something that would take up too much room but was still sufficient for my dog’s needs.
This came in handy on my trip when we visited my cousin’s house to stay overnight while we split the trip up. This cage packed easily into our vehicle and set up is a breeze. I suggest bringing an extra towel or a small dog bed for the dog to sleep on when in the cage.
ENO’s dog leash is made from excess material from the popular Atlas Straps. It has a very similar look to the straps, and this leash is so convenient because of the ability to use the buckle on the end to tie your dog down to a nearby pole or the leg of your chair while keeping them on the leash. Since we were on the go so much during my road trip, my dog came with me to meals, which meant I needed her to be close by. I think the ReLeash would have done the trick!
I forgot to take this with me during my travels and it is one of my personal favorites! This is a water bottle with a built in dog bowl for when you are on the go. This would have been very convenient during long walks and when we were headed to eat. It not only stores a good amount of water, but the removable dog bowl comes in handy.
Some dogs travel better than others, but if you come prepared, you can spend time creating great memories with your trusty companion!
