Muir Valley is a breath taking piece of property nestled in Wolfe County, Kentucky. It’s a known rock-climbing gem in the area and has won the hearts of outdoor enthusiasts in the south east. Land owners and environmental stewards, Rick and Liz Weber have been approached by a group of climbers who have proposed to form an organization of volunteers that would help build and maintain trails and rock climbs, in essence to assume responsibility for the property’s health and protect it from any and all future threats.
Friends of Muir Vally‘s goal is to raise $200,000 this year to cover the 2014 and 2015 operating and maintenance expenses, as well as the expenses associated with transfer of ownership and a stewardship fund for the property. All donations made this year to either FOMV or Muir Valley LLC, as well as any grant funds received by FOMV, will count towards this goal. None of this money is going to the Webers. Muir Valley is to be a gift from them to the climbing community.
The devotion these climbers have for the land speaks volumes to the respect they possess for it. Will you help them reach their financial goal so generations to come can hike, climb and hammock in Muir Valley?
