Now that the worst of the polar vortex has passed, I still find myself daydreaming of warmer days, live music, and jerry rolls. You guessed it, I’m day dreaming of music festivals. I know I’m not the only one longing for festival season to begin, to return to dancing, new friends, and having a close bond with music for an entire weekend.
Well, it’s time to stop staring out icy windows and bumping up your thermostat. Let’s be pro-active about our currently long lost friend of the music festival and prepare for next year. So when your favorite festival announces their line up and your hard earned money hits the bank, you know that you’re more than ready with these necessities.
1.) ENO Hammock & Straps; Put Your Feet Up.
It probably goes without saying that this is a necessity. Whether you camp in your hammock or have it strapped to your day bag to be ready for any-time naps and relaxation, it’s a necessity! Festivals are a marathon, not a sprint. You don’t want to be that kid who slept through all of Saturday night’s acts because they went too hard on Friday night. Take time throughout the day to rest your body and mind. Because we know you’re probably not getting your full eight hours of sleep at night. wink wink.
2.) Day Bag; Keep it Together.
Whether you choose to go with our possum pocket or another type of backpack, a small day bag is a good idea to have. When you wake up at your campsite; before you head out to start your day, consider taking a small bag with the essentials: wallet, hammock, water bottle, light jacket for when it gets chilly later. The beauty of the day bag, is that you can still be a well equipped festival goer but remain hands free to DANCE.
3.) The Basics; Little Things Matter.
Take this piece of advice and you will come to the rescue of a handful of people over the weekend. Have some basics on hand, namely: a little bottle of aspirin, bug spray, sunblock, a nasal decongestant, and vitamins. Simply raid your medicine cabinet at home before you leave, throw these basics in a small bag or tin, stick it in the day bag we talked about earlier–and voila; you are the person with the remedy. Seriously though, someone will get a headache, someone will start showing signs of a cold, and everyone should pop a multi vitamin with their breakfast. Party like grownups.
That’s all for now. I gotta go figure out a way to get to The Hudson Project.
